Moving I-4 Forward (Formerly Segment 1B: I-4 from Osceola Parkway to west of Central Florida Parkway)

Construction on part of this segment has been accelerated as part of Moving I-4 Forward. For the most current information on construction, please visit movingi4forward.com.

Note: Moving I-4 Forward covers part of the former Segment 1-B from west of Osceola Parkway to east of State Road 536.

The original vision for this segment was to encompass three bustling interchanges that serve as the gateway to nearby attractions. Now partially under the Moving I-4 Forward initiative, Segment 1B’s original design was intended to provide motorists traveling on this nearly 6-mile stretch multiple access points to and from the Managed Lanes. They were to have the benefit of extended collector-distributor roads adjacent to both directions of Interstate 4 (I-4), which spaces out traffic entering or exiting I-4. The general use lanes along this segment were originally going to be elevated above the Managed Lanes and collector-distributor roads.

Segment 1B was intended to include the construction, widening and/or replacement of 41 bridges. In addition to 12 existing ponds, the project originally called for crews to build nine new ponds. Moving I-4 Forward is accelerating the timeline for part of this project. This page contains legacy information and includes the original program documents.
