ATTENTION DRIVERS: Westbound I-4 Entrance and Exit Ramps at U.S. 17-92 Interchange Closing Overnight November 20-21

Motorists should be advised that the westbound Interstate 4 (I-4) entrance ramp from U.S. 17-92 and the westbound I-4 exit ramp to U.S. 17-92 in Seminole County will be closed overnight on Wednesday, November 20, and Thursday, November 21. Both ramps will close as soon as 10 p.m. and reopen by 6 a.m. the following morning.

These closures are necessary for striping work and are part of the I-4 improvements project at the I-4 and U.S. 17-92 interchange.

Motorists on U.S. 17-92/Seminole Boulevard who wish to access westbound I-4 are directed to turn south at County Road (C.R.) 15/Monroe Road and turn right onto westbound State Road (S.R.) 46, then proceed west to the westbound I-4 entrance ramp.

Motorists on westbound I-4 who wish to access U.S. 17-92 are directed to continue west past the U.S. 17-92 exit and take Exit 101D before turning left onto eastbound S.R. 46. Drivers will proceed east on S.R. 46, turn left onto C.R. 15/Monroe Road, and head north to access U.S. 17-92/Seminole Boulevard.

Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

The I-4 and U.S. 17-92 interchange improvements project in Seminole County is expected to enhance safety by improving the sight distance for motorists, upgrading crosswalks for pedestrians and bicyclists, and reducing the speed limit on U.S. 17-92 from 50 mph to 35 mph. The improvements will include adding a pedestrian-activated crossing signal at the end of the eastbound I‑4 exit ramp.

Additionally, crews will add an auxiliary lane on eastbound U.S. 17-92 between the westbound I‑4 exit ramp and Monroe Road. Crews will add a second right turn lane to U.S. 17-92 when driving east to continue south on U.S. 17-92/Monroe Road. The dual right-turn-only lanes will stop at the signalized intersection with Seminole Boulevard, replacing the existing free-flow right turn. Crews will add a right turn lane from southbound U.S. 17-92/Monroe Road to the eastbound I‑4 entrance ramp and a left turn lane from westbound Seminole Boulevard to U.S. 17-92/Monroe Road to drive south.

Construction started in fall 2023 and is expected to be completed by late 2024.
