Motorists should be advised that a segment of westbound Seminole Boulevard just east of Interstate 4 (I-4) will close overnight on Tuesday, November 5.
The closure is scheduled to start as soon as 10 p.m. and is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. the following morning. This closure is necessary for signalization work. This work is part of the I-4 and U.S. 17-92 interchange improvements project.
Motorists on U.S. 17-92 east of the closure are directed to head east on Seminole Boulevard and proceed through the roundabouts to French Avenue. From there, drivers will turn right onto southbound French Avenue and turn right again to access westbound State Road (S.R.) 46. Drivers will proceed west to turn right onto County Road (C.R.) 15/Monroe Road and head north to return to U.S. 17-92.
The I-4 and U.S. 17-92 interchange improvements project in Seminole County is expected to enhance safety by improving sight distance for motorists, upgrading crosswalks for pedestrians and bicyclists, and reducing the speed limit on U.S. 17-92 from 50 mph to 35 mph. The improvements will include adding a pedestrian-activated crossing signal at the end of the eastbound I‑4 exit ramp.
Additionally, crews will add an auxiliary lane on eastbound U.S. 17-92 between the westbound I‑4 exit ramp and Monroe Road. Crews will add a second right turn lane to U.S. 17-92 when driving east to continue south on U.S. 17-92/Monroe Road. The dual right-turn-only lanes will stop at the signalized intersection with Seminole Boulevard, replacing the existing free-flow right turn. Crews will add a right turn lane from southbound U.S. 17-92/Monroe Road to the eastbound I‑4 entrance ramp and a left turn lane from westbound Seminole Boulevard to U.S. 17-92/Monroe Road to drive south.
Construction started in fall 2023 and is expected to be completed by late 2024.
