WB I-4 to Sand Lake closure detour
ATTENTION DRIVERS: Overnight Closures on Westbound I-4 between Kirkman Road and S.R. 528 Interchanges September 7 – 11
Motorists are advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing overnight closures along westbound Interstate 4 (I-4) between the Kirkman Road (State Road (S.R.) 435) and S.R. 528 (Beachline Expressway) interchanges beginning Sunday, September 7, through Thursday, September 11.

The closures will begin as early as 10 p.m. and are expected to reopen by 6 a.m. the following morning, with the last closure opening on the morning of Friday, September 12.

On the nights of Sunday, September 7, to Thursday, September 11, motorists can expect the following overnight closures:

  • All westbound lanes and ramps of I-4 from Kirkman Road to west of S.R. 528, except for the westbound I-4 exit ramp to Kirkman Road and the westbound I-4 entrance ramp from westbound S.R. 528.
This closure is necessary to install overhead signage. This work is part of the ramp widening project on the westbound I-4 exit ramp to eastbound S.R. 528. These improvements will improve capacity and traffic flow at this busy interchange.

September 7-11 Detour Information

Motorists traveling west on I-4 who wish to access S.R. 528 will be directed to exit early at Exit 75B to southbound Kirkman Road, then continue south to Sand Lake Road (S.R. 482), staying in the left lane and turning left onto eastbound Sand Lake Road toward John Young Parkway (S.R. 423). Motorists will then turn right onto southbound John Young Parkway, proceeding to S.R. 528. From there, drivers who wish to return to I-4 will continue west to the end of S.R. 528 and take the ramp to westbound I-4.

Motorists traveling east on Sand Lake Road who wish to access westbound I-4 will turn right onto southbound Turkey Lake Road and proceed to Central Florida Parkway. From there, motorists will turn left onto eastbound Central Florida Parkway and take the first right onto the westbound I-4 entrance ramp.

FDOT advises motorists to follow all posted detour signs. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
