ATTENTION DRIVERS: Overnight Closure of Interstate 4 at S.R. 528

Motorists should be advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing an overnight closure of westbound Interstate 4 (I-4) at State Road (S.R.) 528 (Beachline Expressway) on Sunday, March 16. The closure will begin as early as 10 p.m. Sunday, March 16, and is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Monday morning, March 17. If this work is not completed overnight on March 16, additional overnight closures of westbound I-4 at S.R. 528 may be required until March 18.

All westbound I-4 lanes and ramps from Kirkman Road (S.R. 435) to just west of S.R. 528 will be closed overnight, except for the westbound I-4 exit ramps to Kirkman Road at Exits 75A and 75B.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to pour concrete for the expanded bridge deck of the westbound I-4 exit ramp to eastbound S.R. 528. The operation is a critical step in the project to widen the ramp from one to two lanes, improving capacity and traffic flow at this busy interchange.

During this closure, motorists traveling west on I-4 to S.R. 528 will exit early at Exit 75B to southbound Kirkman Road. Motorists will proceed south on Kirkman Road to the Sand Lake Road ramp, staying in the left lane and turning left onto eastbound Sand Lake Road at the traffic signal. From there, motorists will turn right onto southbound John Young Parkway, proceeding to the entrance ramp to westbound S.R. 528 and returning to westbound I-4.

Motorists should follow all posted signs and use extra caution while driving through active construction zones. Remember to always be alert while riding or driving. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

The I-4 and S.R. 528 project began last year and is anticipated to reach completion in 2026.
