Motorists are advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing overnight closures of all lanes and ramps on westbound Interstate 4 (I-4) between Kirkman Road (State Road (S.R.) 435) and west of S.R. 528 (Beachline Expressway), with the exception of the westbound I-4 exit ramp to Kirkman Road and the westbound I-4 entrance ramp from westbound S.R. 528.

The closures will occur nightly from Sunday, November 9, through Thursday, November 13, beginning as early as 10 p.m. each night and reopening by 6 a.m. the following morning. These closures are necessary to conduct bridge painting and a traffic shift. This work is part of the ramp widening project on the westbound I-4 exit ramp to eastbound S.R. 528. These improvements will improve capacity and traffic flow at this busy interchange.

Detour Information

Motorists traveling west on I-4 who wish to access S.R. 528 will exit early at Exit 75B to southbound Kirkman Road, then continue south to Sand Lake Road (S.R. 482), turning left onto eastbound Sand Lake Road toward John Young Parkway (S.R. 423). Motorists will then turn right onto southbound John Young Parkway, proceeding to S.R. 528. From there, drivers who wish to return to I-4 will continue west to the end of S.R. 528 and take the ramp to westbound I-4.

Motorists traveling east on Sand Lake Road who wish to access westbound I-4 will turn right onto southbound Turkey Lake Road and proceed to Central Florida Parkway. From there, motorists will turn left onto eastbound Central Florida Parkway and take the first right onto the westbound I-4 entrance ramp.

FDOT advises motorists to follow all posted detour signs. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
