ATTENTION DRIVERS: Overnight Closures of Apopka-Vineland Road Under I-4 April 12-14
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing overnight closures of Apopka-Vineland Road (State Road (S.R.) 535) under Interstate 4 (I-4) from Sunday, April 12, through Tuesday, April 14. The northbound Apopka-Vineland Road closure will begin as early as 11:30 p.m., and the southbound closure will begin as early as 12 a.m. each night. Both closures will reopen by 6 a.m. each morning.
These closures are necessary for bridge beam setting over Apopka-Vineland Road as part of the improvements to the I-4 and Apopka-Vineland Road interchange.
Prior to the nightly closures, Apopka-Vineland Road will be limited to one lane in each direction starting as early as 10 p.m. During the overnight closures, left turns from Apopka-Vineland Road to the I-4 entrance ramps will be restricted, and motorists exiting I-4 at Apopka-Vineland Road will be limited to right turns only.
NOTE: Should this work not be completed by the morning of Wednesday, April 15, the same closures and detours will be implemented overnight Wednesday night during the same hours, with the final closure ending the morning of Thursday, April 16.
Motorists traveling northbound on Apopka-Vineland Road
(south of I-4):
Turn right onto eastbound I-4 and take Exit 70 to Daryl Carter Parkway. From the exit ramp, turn left onto westbound Daryl Carter Parkway, then turn left onto southwest Palm Parkway and proceed to access Apopka-Vineland Road.
Motorists traveling southbound on Apopka-Vineland Road
(north of I-4):
Turn right onto westbound I-4 and take Exit 67 to World Center Drive (S.R. 536). Keep left through the exit to use the loop ramp to eastbound World Center Drive, then proceed to Apopka-Vineland Road.
FDOT advises motorists to follow all posted detour signs. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
This work is part of the improvement project at the I-4 and Apopka-Vineland Road interchange. Crews are reconstructing the interchange to enhance safety and improve access to and from westbound I-4 and extending I-4 Express.
