ATTENTION DRIVERS: Eastbound I-4 Exit Ramp to Central Florida Parkway Scheduled to Close Overnight August 11

Motorists should be advised that a nighttime full ramp closure of the eastbound Interstate 4 (I-4) exit ramp, exit 71, to Central Florida Parkway will start as early as 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. Crews expect to reopen the ramp by 6:30 a.m. the following morning.

The closure is necessary for crews to remove the barrier wall along both sides of the exit ramp.

During the ramp closure, drivers on eastbound I-4 who wish to head east or west on Central Florida Parkway must follow the detour signs on I-4 and use the next exit, exit 72, to eastbound State Road (S.R.) 528 (Beachline Expressway). Motorists will proceed to Exit 1 and exit at International Drive, where they have the option to continue straight off the exit ramp to Westwood Boulevard or turn left onto southbound International Drive to access Central Florida Parkway.

The detour for this full ramp closure is the same one that has been used for the right turn onto eastbound Central Florida Parkway since early 2023.

Drainage improvement work at Central Florida Parkway is part of the I-4 and Daryl Carter Parkway interchange project, which is expected to relieve congestion by adding three new ramps connecting I-4 to Daryl Carter Parkway — exit ramps from both directions of I-4 to Daryl Carter Parkway and an entrance ramp to eastbound I-4. A westbound I-4 entrance ramp will be built as part of a future project. Crews will also convert the existing Daryl Carter Parkway overpass to a diverging diamond interchange.

Construction started in November 2022 and is expected to be complete by early 2026.
