C.R. 46A and Rinehart Road Intersection Project Nears Completion

Construction on the County Road (C.R.) 46A (H.E. Thomas Jr. Parkway) and Rinehart Road improvement project is entering its final stages. Significant progress has been made as the project nears completion, improving both safety and traffic flow in the area.

Recently, crews installed new “No U-turn” signage in the median at the intersection of C.R. 46A and Rinehart Road to prevent potentially hazardous U-turns that can lead to delays or collisions, especially during high-traffic periods. These changes will help the intersection function more smoothly, minimizing backups and enhancing the overall driving experience.

The improvements at the intersection include the addition of new turn lanes. On southbound Rinehart Road, crews constructed new right-turn lanes to help drivers more easily transition onto westbound C.R. 46A. The project includes new right-turn lanes from eastbound C.R. 46A to southbound Rinehart Road. Additionally, a lane that previously allowed motorists to either turn right or proceed through the intersection has been converted to a through-only lane.

To further enhance capacity, several turn lanes have been modified and/or lengthened. A new third lane on southbound Rinehart Road just south of the intersection provides easier access to local businesses. Upgrades to walkways enhance safety for pedestrians.

Construction started in fall of 2023 and is anticipated to reach completion in fall of 2025.
