Motorists should be advised that a full closure of County Road (C.R.) 46A (H.E. Thomas Jr. Parkway) between Interstate 4 (I-4) and Rinehart Road is scheduled overnight on Tuesday, November 19; Wednesday, November 20; and Thursday, November 21.
The closure is scheduled to start as soon as 8 p.m. and reopen by 6 a.m. each morning. This closure is necessary for sign installation and is part of the project improving capacity at the C.R. 46A and Rinehart Road intersection.
During the road closure, motorists heading eastbound on C.R. 46A are directed to travel north on International Parkway, turn right on State Road (S.R.) 417, and proceed to Exit 54. From the exit ramp, drivers will turn left onto southbound Rinehart Road and proceed to turn left onto C.R. 46A to continue traveling east.
Motorists heading westbound on C.R. 46A are directed to turn right onto northbound Rinehart Road and turn right onto the northbound S.R. 417 entrance ramp. Drivers will proceed on S.R. 417 (which becomes S.R. 429 when it passes I-4) to Exit 55B at International Parkway. From the exit ramp, motorists will turn left to head south on International Parkway and proceed to C.R. 46A.
Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
The improvement project at the C.R. 46A and Rinehart Road intersection is expected to improve traffic efficiency while reducing congestion at the I‑4 and C.R. 46A interchange. The enhancements will increase capacity at the intersection by modifying select existing turn lanes and adding new turn lanes. A third lane will also be added to southbound Rinehart Road between C.R. 46A and Timacuan Boulevard.
Construction started in fall of 2023 and is anticipated to reach completion in 2025.
