Work to improve Interstate 4 (I-4) between County Road (C.R.) 532 and State Road (S.R.) 429 is underway.
The project began in November to add eastbound and westbound I-4 auxiliary lanes, one in each direction, between the two interchanges, as well as an auxiliary lane on northbound S.R. 429 between I-4 and Sinclair Road.
Motorists in the area do need to be aware the I-4 work zone for this project stretches about 5 miles from the Polk/Osceola County line to west of S.R. 417. Milling and resurfacing of all the I-4 lanes in this area, as well as on S.R. 429 between I-4 and Sinclair Road, will create a smoother roadway and extend the life of the pavement.
Milling and resurfacing work occurs mostly at night. Motorists should expect nightly lane closures in this area on Sunday-Friday between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.
To protect construction workers and all road users, follow these tips for traveling safely through the work zones:
- Watch for vehicles entering and leaving the roadway.
- Be aware of workers while driving through an active work zone.
- Slow down to the posted speed limit.
- Save lives by avoiding distractions and always driving sober.
