FDOT Announces Schedule for ChampionsGate Construction Contract

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Five is seeking qualified firms to bid on construction of a new diverging diamond interchange (DDI) at the I-4 and County Road (C.R.) 532 Interchange in Osceola County. FDOT advertised the contract in late December. Letting will happen January 27, with construction beginning in the spring.

The project, Financial Project Identification Number: 444187-1, is a joint project between Osceola County and FDOT. The county is designing the project, and FDOT will oversee its construction. It is a traditional design-bid-build project.

Converting C.R. 532 to a DDI will improve safety and traffic operations at the busy interchange, which is adjacent to the ChampionsGate development. The project will also add bike lanes and sidewalks along C.R. 532 for improved bicycle and pedestrian safety and connectivity.

FDOT held a design public hearing on the project in September 2020. Documents from that hearing, including final design plans and an interactive 3D model, can be found on the I-4 Beyond the Ultimate website.
